Remembering hell

“Blessed sovereign Lord, ruler of all the Heavens and Earth
King of Kings and Omnipotent Sire of our death and our birth

Praise be to your holiest of names and to your highest reign
All worship and honor is yours in utmost sincerity, not in vain

Gratitude from all the worlds is reverently laid at your feet
From your divine actions and justice, graciousness shall meet

Your eternal Light shines on the dark, illuminating with ray
Your eternal Word speaks gently, guiding us on our way”

remembered and delivered through and through,
praying offered little charm against deep impulsive craving

little finger twitched in spasm of jilted nerves

teeth grinding and fists clinched,
bowed head, not in reverence but in shame

haunting words whispered in ear
echoing into mental chasm

perspiration dripping from brow,
stinging tear soaked irises

the dark figure, a shadow amongst living beings,
silhouetted against the indigo and grey of the horizon

not alone in a realm of frozen emotions

too many others were regrettably no strangers
to this despondent circumstance

to serve a short, but no less severe,
term in misery of one's own accord

out of all the lessons to learn
and all the knowledge to gain...

never quite grasped on to the idea of letting go

thus stuck with concrete feet,
staying until he can’t
