I arrive at the restaurant
my heart overrides my nerves
as my mind is perplexed
about how calm I am
strange to be a party of one
as I've never gone out
to eat by myself, alone
that'll soon be remedied
the hostess leads me
into the dining room
and seats me with a menu
this list of food and drinks
will serve as my companion
but merely for the moment
for even as I sit down I feel
a magnetic force knocking
at my accelerating pulse
I resist for as long as I can
but then give in to the impulse
I glance up to find the most
intense gaze fixated on me
at that moment everything
else fades from reality
as the ravenous connection
pulls at the very souls
of the two engaged in this
